Is SEO Worth It?
People have flat out asked me if my SEO services are worth it.
And guess what?
I have told some people that for their particular business – it isn’t.
As a search engine marketing expert and entrepreneur, that may sound like a horrible business decision. But the truth is, I’ve developed a knack for finding clients who can benefit the most from Internet Marketing, and I’ve learned on my own dime which business models can’t be sustained online no matter how much money is thrown at paid advertising.
Is Search Engine Optimization Worth the Investment?
Let’s first state the obvious fact of SEO is a variable cost. I have clients who fight for 100’s and even 1,000’s of keywords which obviously is a significant investment. I have others with 1-2 keywords and we laser focus on those and the investment is much less.
Here are some questions I’ll personally ask you should you seek a consultation.
1) What is your CPA (cost per acquisition) currently?
2) What is the LTV (lifetime value) of a customer?
3) Are people proactively searching for your brand, your niche, or trying to solve a problem that you can help them with by using Google, Yahoo!, or Bing?
#3 is YES 99.9% of the time.
If you are in any high margin business, SEO is always worth the investment.
Think skin care, apparel, clothing, furniture. All of these businesses have great margins.
If you have the ability to retain a client for a long period of time, the same can be said – SEO is definitely worth it.
If you are part of a law firm, dental office, accounting agency, or plastic surgery center, you certainly know how valuable getting a new client can be to the overall success of your company.
I’ve built my own businesses strictly from organic search traffic. The search engines can be your best friend in life – or your worst enemy.
